Samsung unveils Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra with titanium frame

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA / RankWire.AI / – Samsung Electronics unveiled its eighth-generation foldable lineup during its Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event in London, introducing the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip8. The South Korean technology firm refreshed physical designs, upgraded camera architecture, and integrated artificial intelligence features across all three handsets. The release marks the official debut of an Ultra model within Samsung’s folding device portfolio, aiming at enterprise users with an ultra-slim form factor measuring 4.1 millimeters unfolded and weighing 215 grams.

The baseline Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 features a redesigned body weighing 201 grams, making it the lightest book-style folding device in the company’s product history. Designed with a 10:16 cover screen aspect ratio and a 4:3 main display ratio, the panel configuration caters to web browsing, reading, and video playback. Both panels feature Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits powered by Vision Booster technology. Operating on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, the smartphone is equipped with a 4,800 mAh battery.

To increase structural durability while reducing physical profile thickness, Samsung engineered its proprietary Flex Titanium display structure for the premium folding models. The display architecture combines a titanium-alloy film with an underlying titanium support plate to absorb structural impact, distribute mechanical tension, and reduce visible screen creasing over extended folding cycles. Hinge balance, magnetic force, and display panel tension were recalibrated to deliver smoother mechanical opening actions. Outdoor visibility is supported by a low-reflection finish designed to preserve color vibrancy across high ambient light surroundings.

    Advanced Hardware and Productivity Capabilities

The top-tier Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra expands screen real estate to an 8.0-inch QXGA+ main display alongside a 6.5-inch cover screen. Designed for high-volume multitasking and media creation, the Ultra model houses a 200-megapixel primary camera sensor featuring High Dynamic Range capability, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera lens, and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera module. For professional mobile video recording, the device supports 8K video capture utilizing the APV video codec alongside integrated Cine LUT color management tools for professional video editing workflows.

Internal hardware within the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra features an expanded graphite cooling structure engineered for improved thermal dissipation during intensive computational workloads. The device is powered by a 5,000 mAh dual-cell battery supported by a 45W dual-path fast-charging architecture designed to distribute electric current efficiently across the dual battery cells. System performance is backed by option configurations offering up to 16GB of Random Access Memory and up to 1TB of onboard storage capacity running on One UI 9 based on the Android 17 operating platform.

    Software Intelligence and Market Rollout

Alongside the larger book-style devices, Samsung revealed the clamshell Galaxy Z Flip8, measuring 6.1 millimeters in thickness when unfolded and weighing 180 grams. The compact device includes a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED cover display, a 6.9-inch main display, a 50-megapixel primary camera, and a 4,300 mAh battery. Across all three foldable models, software features include agentic artificial intelligence tools developed in partnership with Google, such as Gemini Intelligence, Now Brief, and Now Nudge, which automate background workflows, summarize complex files, and streamline app navigation.

Commercial availability for the Galaxy Z Fold8 series commences with global pre-orders starting immediately following the Unpacked presentation, with retail store delivery scheduled for August 7, 2026. Official pricing starts at $1,899.99 for the baseline Galaxy Z Fold8, while the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip8 reflect updated hardware pricing across regional retail markets. The launch reinforces Samsung strategy to expand foldable market adoption across premium consumer and enterprise mobility segments worldwide.
